In the poker world, we have seen a huge increase in activity in the last ten years. Poker business people are cashing in on the growing poker industry. We will show you how business people are being successful during this poker boom.

First, let’s see why this boom has happened. We can identify three key things that created the expansion in action at the poker tables. Alright, listed chronologically, this is what occurred that led to the poker boom.

It all begins in 1994 when poker player Henry Orenstein designed, and patented, the technology for the the hole card camera. This allows viewers to see the pocket cards that the players have while the hands are being played out. The beginning for “pocket cam” happened in 1997 on The Late Night Poker Show, in England.

Poker had been on TV since the 70′s, but no one was watching. It wasn’t very interesting watching poker because not having the knowledge of what the players were working with, it was difficult to understand what the players were trying to do. The pocket camera made poker on TV massively more popular.

The next thing that contributed to the poker explosion was the start of poker on the world wide web. The first internet poker room started in 1998. Players can now play a game of poker in the relaxed surroundings of virtually any place they can imagine. Web based poker action will show a steady increase in players over the next few years.

Now we’re ready for the last event that caused the boom. When Chris Moneymaker beats some of the top pros in the game to win the world series of poker Main Event in 2003, we see poker explode. Getting into the Main Event thru a $40 online poker room satellite, then winning, starts the avalanche of poker popularity.

The combination of the hole card cam increasing the interest in seeing poker on TV, and the growth of online poker rooms dramatically adding to the player base, positioned the poker industry for poker to take off to incredible levels of popularity. Everyone seeing an online, rookie player, win the biggest tournament in poker, poker took off.

The explosion we see brings numerous possibilities for forward thinking business minds. There are a few key ways to be successful in the booming world of poker. Most of these money making opportunities are web based businesses. Here is a short list of a few of the businesses you might want to start in this growing industry.

A number of people have become pro poker players. Many people have gotten very wealthy finding poker players for the online poker rooms. Books on poker strategy can be big sellers.

Entrepreneurs are selling software applications that help online players in gaining information by using the hand histories in their computer files. Some people are opening their very own online poker rooms. You will find poker leagues taking place at various locations all over the country.

These are most, but not all, of the interesting opportunities that people are finding to cash in on the rapid expansion of poker. Being in a poker business that can be done online has to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and the potential for making money is there for those business people that are ready to get started soon.
