In the worldwide poker industry, we have seen a huge increase in activity over the last few years. Business people have made good profits during the increase in poker activity. We will show you how people are cashing big checks in the poker world.

First, let’s look at why poker has exploded. We can conclude that there were 3 separate events that created the expansion in people hitting the poker tables. Now, in chronological order, this is what occurred that caused the boom that we see in poker.

We begin in 1994 when poker player Henry Orenstein conceived, and patented, the technology for the “hole card cam”. The fans are now able to know the hole cards of all of the players while the hands are being played out. The beginning for “pocket cam” was in 1997 on The Late Night Poker Show, in England.

Poker had been on TV since the 70′s, but no one was watching. This was due to fact that not having the knowledge of what the players were working with, you were guessing what the players thinking. This new innovation made poker on television very captivating.

The next thing that moved us closer to the rapid expansion of poker was the advent of online poker. The first online poker room was up and running in 1998. People are now able to play in the friendly surroundings of virtually any place they can imagine. The online poker rooms will show a growing player base as poker players became comfortable with this new poker format.

Now we’re ready for the final development that ultimately led to the poker explosion. So, when Chris Moneymaker wins the WSOP World Championship of Poker in 2003, poker takes off. Getting his seat thru a $40 online poker room satellite, then winning pokers biggest prize, completes the sequence.

The combination of the pocket camera creating a large audience viewing poker on television, and the surge of internet poker rooms adding to the number of poker players, set things up for the “Moneymaker” effect. Everyone seeing an internet, rookie player, win the biggest tournament in poker, poker activity increased dramatically.

The increases we observe opens up a varied amount of opportunities for creative business people. There are seemingly endless ways to be successful in the booming world of poker. A lot of these choices are online opportunities. Let’s name a few of the businesses you can try in this growing industry.

Some people have found themselves making a nice living as professional players. Some dedicated marketers have gotten rich being an affiliate for the online poker rooms. All types of poker writings are solid, profitable items.

People are making software tools that assist online players in accessing data from the information gathered from their past play. Some people are opening their very own online poker rooms. We even see live poker leagues happening at bars and meeting rooms all over the country.

These are most, but by no means all, of the various opportunities that people have found to cash in on the accelerated growth of poker. Finding a poker business with an online presence appears to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and the potential for making money is there for those business people that are ready to get involved.
