Clay poker chips come in a variety of designs, grades, compositions, and styles. If you are in the market for clay chips, there is no shortage of choices. Making the best decision for your game can be fun.

If time is against you, making the correct purchase may be difficult for you. The reason is that you need to take time for research via the web. Get online and look for clay poker chips reviews. Also, buy samples of the poker chips that fit your budget or interest level.

Getting samples of clay poker chips in your hands is a required step. To do this, you will simply have to find a shop that will sell chips in small quantities. The individual prices for clay chips can exceed a dollar, but it is recommended to include some of these in your sample chip purchase. Having all qualities and price ranges represented will allow you to make the most informed decision, even if you think the super high end chips are out of your budget.

Clay poker chips are pretty much never 100% clay. If they were, the chips would be too fragile and brittle; so one could argue that all clay chips are made from a composite material. However, high end clay chips, such as the Paulson poker chips, are considered true clay chips, are used in many casinos, and are one of the standards that all clay poker chips are measured against.

Do not be afraid of clay composite poker chips. These options are often of superb quality with excellent sound and feel qualities. Often times there are unique designs available and some clay composite chips will have a metal insert. The metal insert may or may not be detectable when the chips are dropped together.

The addition of metal inserts into poker chips is generally the factor which allows the chips to be hot stamped. While clay is brittle by nature, there are some clay composite poker chips which are blended in such a way to allow customization.

After all of the research (however long or short it may be), if you determine that full clay chips are the choice for you, please be sure to get samples of all the varieties. When the bulk purchase is made, it will be expensive and you will have to keep the chips a long time. It is best to be certain of what you are buying.

Don’t forget to satisfy your own personal tastes for design, look, and feel of the poker chips. Along the way you will most likely hear or read a lot of opinions from friends and so called experts. It is your money to be spent and you who will use these chips for years.
